The hull and bran are removed by a process called pearling to make flakes and kibbles. A hearty breakfast cereal that is perfect choice for individuals who have to watch their insulin levels. Barley is a good source of the mineral chromium, which is a part of glucose tolerance factor. Health and Barley: Barley has been shown to lower cholesterol.
